Statistics  have proven that those who have pets live longer 
    than those who do not.

 Other healthy facts include:
       The act of petting a dog or cat lowers blood pressure. 

       Heart attack victims who have pets recover more quickly 
            than those who do not.

       And children who have pets are able to concentrate better
             on their studies than those who do not have pets.

....... if this is your beloved pet that you are unloading, you need to REALIZE a few things BEFORE you finalize your decision to give up your little one:

Nationally, only a SMALL % of all pets given to a shelter are adopted to a new home. The rest are eventually killed.

How do they die?

 Your pet could end up in a laboratory-----especially if he's a "nice" pet
( the one that won't bite when stuck with a needle or cut without anesthetic}.

He could end up on someone's table -- as dinner.

He could be beaten into "guard" duty.

He could be abused sexually by sick human beings before being tortured to death.

MOST LIKELY your lovable little pet will be put to death by the shelter because nobody will adopt him in time.

Those atrocities are being committed every day, and your pet could be the next victim --- there's a good chance he will be!

Your faithful companion loves you, perhaps too much.

He will get very depressed when you give him up --
he may even die of a disease brought on by stress within a week or two.

So before you make your final decision, bear in mind that someone who loves you very deeply is about to be punished for it.

How many "people" in your life love you as unselfishly or as deeply as your pet (whom you are about to betray)?

If you are unmoved by these truths or you MUST give your pet away then
PLEASE follow the guidelines on the following page so at least he had a fighting chance for a decent life.

I DIED TODAY

You got tired of me and took me to the shelter. They were overcrowded and I drew an unlucky number. I am in a black plastic bag in a landfill now.

Some other puppy will get the barely used leash you left. My collar was dirty and too small, but the lady took it off before she sent me to the Rainbow Bridge.

Would I still be at home if I hadn't chewed your shoe? I didn't know what it was, but it was leather, and it was on the floor. I was just playing. You forgot to get puppy toys.

Would I still be at home if I had been housebroken? Rubbing my nose in what I did only made me ashamed that I had to go at all. There are books and obedience teachers that would have taught you how to teach me to go to the door.

Would I still be at home if I hadn't brought fleas into the house? Without anti-flea medicine, I couldn't get them off of me after you left me in the yard for days.

Would I still be at home if I hadn't barked? I was only saying, "I'm scared, I'm lonely, I'm here, I'm here! I want to be your best friend."

Would I still be at home if I had made your happy? Hitting me didn't make me learn how.

Would I still be at home if you had taken the time to care for me and to teach manners to me? You didn't pay any attention to me after the first week or so, but I spent all my time waiting for you to love me.
