          Apple Cinnamon Dog Biscuits
1 1/2 c. unbleached flour
1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 c. cornmeal                                                    
1/8 c. nonfat dry milk
2 teas ground cinnamon
1/2 c. smooth apple sauce
1 egg slightly beaten
1/2 to 3/4 c. water

In large bowl, stir together dry ingredients. Add applesauce & egg. Blend
thoroughly. Stirring with wooden spoon, gradually add water.. The dough 
should be very stiff. If not add more flour. Knead until you get a smooth texture.

Roll dough 1/4 " thick. Use a cookie cutter to cut out biscuits. Place 1/2 "
apart on greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 38 - 50 minutes. Biscuits should be lightly brown
on the outside & should not be moist inside. Turn off oven & leave biscuits
in oven for 5 hours to harden.

Store in airtight container. Makes 4 doz 3 x1 inch biscuits.

 

 

          

Banana Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

1 1/2 c. unbleached flour
1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 c. cornmeal                                                    
1/8 c. nonfat dry milk
1 egg slightly beaten
1/4 c. mashed ripe banana (about 1/2 banana)
1/4 c. creamy peanut butter
1/4 to 1 c water.

In large bowl, stir together dry ingredients. Add egg, banana and peanut butter.
Blend well with a pastry bender until the peanut butter & banana are the size of
a pea. With wooden spoon, gradually add water. Dough will be stiff. Add flour
if needed to make stiff. Knead dough to create smooth texture.

Roll dough 1/4" thick. Use cookie cutter to cut out biscuits. Place biscuits 1/2" 
apart on greased cookie sheet.

Bale at 350 degrees for 40 minutes to 1 hour. Biscuits should be lightly brown
on the outside & should not be moist inside. Turn off oven & leave biscuits
in oven for 5 hours to harden.

Store in air tight container in refrigerator. Makes about 3 1/2 dozen.

 

 

          

 

Plain Garlic Dog Biscuits

1 1/2 c. unbleached flour
1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 c. cornmeal                                                    
1/8 c. nonfat dry milk
1 egg slightly beaten
1/8 - 1/4 teas garlic powder (not salt)
1 - 1 1/2 c. water or broth

In large bowl, stir together dry ingredients. Add egg, and water. Stir with wooden
spoon Dough will be stiff. Add flour needed to make stiff. 
Knead dough to create smooth texture.

Roll dough 1/4" thick. Use cookie cutter to cut out biscuits. Place biscuits 1/2" 
apart on greased cookie sheet.

Bale at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Biscuits should be lightly brown
on the outside & should not be moist inside. Turn off oven & leave biscuits
in oven for 5 hours to harden.

Store in air tight container.  Makes about 4 dozen.

 

 

          


 

Baby Food Soft Doggie Cookies

 

3 2 1/2 oz. each, jars of baby food; either beef or chicken

1/4 C dry milk powder

1/4 C wheat germ

Combine ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Roll into small balls and place on well-greased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with a fork. Bake in preheated 350F oven for 15 minutes or until brown. Cool on wire racks and store in refrigerator... also freezes well.

Cream of wheat can be substituted for wheat germ.

 

 

 

 

Easy Microwave Treat for Dogs


3 jars of baby food (meat or vegetable) ½ cup cream of wheat

Drop by teaspoon on wax paper covered paper plate. Flatten with fork, cover with second paper plate. Microwave on high 4-5 minutes. Cool, store in refrigerator.
