
Factors associated with LUTD
1. Affects both male & female cats.(normally
between 2 & 6 yrs old)
2. Stress of any kind such as boarding or environment
change .
3. Obesity. Problems associated with this as
overeating or inactivity.
4. Cats who are housed indoors are most susceptible.
As since they are not as active they drink less & urinate
less.
5. Viral infections
6. Bacterial infections.
7. Diverticula of the bladder.
8. Genetics (Persians have a higher rate &
Siamese have a lower rate)
LUTD's Symptoms
1. Frequent trips to the litter box.
2. Failure to use the litter box
3. Straining to urinate & expressing very
little amounts.
4. Blood in the urine
5. Depression, dehydration, lack of appetite
and sometimes vomiting.
6. Crying when urinating and licking the genital
area.
