Crate Training

Crating your Dog

Most important thing to remember:

A Crate should not be used as an all day thing.

Adult dogs urinate 3 - times a day
and
defecate 2-3 times a day.
Make sure to let them out 1/2 hour after eating.
Also let them out first thing in the morning, last thing at night
and after each feeding.
Pets need socialization and exercise also

Now that we understand they need time out of the crate,
Here are some crate tips.

Let them sniff it for a while (with the door open)
Once you start the confinement - start with short periods.
Make sure it is big enough that the can move around and
lay down comfortably.
Make sure to keep out of direct drafts and excessive heat.
Put some soft bedding (like a blanket) in and a toy or two.
You can give them a treat when you put them in

It will take some getting use to and patience on your part
but eventually they will adjust and will
consider it their security place.

Just remember this is not their prison
it is meant to give them a feeling of security
and you peace of mind.
Important: 8 hours is the limit for crating. Longer periods can lead
to serious problems such as bladder infections and other disorders.
