Free at Last!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My name is Winston ad I am the newest member of the family.

You see I came from a Bad puppy mill that got shut down in Ohio. I am 12 years old so I was there a LOOONG time. I was at a shelter for a year waiting for the courts to set me free. Finally they did but in the meantime I had a mild stroke and had to go to the hospital. A really sweet lady (her name is Lisa) felt sorry for me and took me home instead of going back to the shelter as she didn't want me stressed out. But she rescues & has several babies of her own and felt I needed a forever home to spend what time I may have. So that's how I ended up in PA.

My new mommie felt so sorry for me and she REALLY REALLY hates puppy mills and is fighting to shut them down!!!! So she said well what's one more. I want him. So here I am.

I am not perfect and have many problems. For instance I am completely blind and deaf. Mom took me to the vets and I have a very enlarged heart that's not working right. I have ulcers in my eyes, and a bad back injury (from long ago that healed that way), plus I can't walk real good & will have incontinence forever due to spinal injury. My teeth are really bad & I need to be neutered but not unless they can get my heart working better. But my mommie says its OK sweetie we will just deal with it. I am on meds for my eyes and heart.

She really loves me. She picks me up to take me out & has to come get me & carry me back in. It ain't easy cause she has a bad back & problems with her legs but she still does it cause she thinks I was sent from Heaven. She says we will do what ever it takes sweetie to make sure you have a wonderful home from here on out. You suffered tooo long.

Anyways I had her worried the first day- I walked around outside like a drunk. Staggered all over & kept falling down. She told me - if the cops drive by - they will pick you up for DUI. But I am getting better now - My legs are crooked (I am pigeon toed) but I can walk pretty good now with out staggering. I can go all over the house (she only has one floor) I have checked it all out and marked most all my spots but now she got me a belly band - enough is enough. but she takes it off to go outside.

One thing I learned real quick & well!! When she carries me back in - sits me down. I am looking for that treat!! YEP- I learned this real fast!!

I have learned her vibrations when she is near. I look up at her & cock my head. I know when she is near. Now I also know when no one else is too & I bark (weird) but bark. I can be very vocal. (of course I have her trained to run to me when I do) Hee Hee

I get along well with all my brothers & sisters here but Abby don't want me too near her so I am learning to stay away. But that's OK she is sick too but she is dying and don't feel real good. Benji & Nestor didn't like me at first. Growled at me so Mom sat them both down & had a good talk with them . She told them I was a old baby and blind . She ask them to look out for me. & you know what--- They do!! They stop in the yard & come check on me to see if I am OK then go back to playing (I guess- I can't see) Anyways I get along great with all of them now and have a home where I am protected and loved dearly. FINALLY after 12 years!!!!!!!!

The vet says my blood tests came back really good and I don't have worms so I guess that's good.

I sleep next to mom in my crate beside her pillow on a stand and she leaves the door open & that way she pets me till I go to sleep. Its lower than the bed so I can't get out. She says I can't be on the bed as I might fall off and she don't want me to get hurt.

I like it when she picks me up & holds me real close. I have learned to snuggle up close & give puppy kisses.

In September I get to go to the Awareness Day Event It's to educate people on Puppy Mills) in Lancaster PA. Mom says - you are going with me.

I have been to Pet Smart & Super Pets twice. I ride really great in the car and sit in the cart at the store. Hey Like my new Bandana?? Neat Huh??

I do not walk with a leash- Just sit!! Have no clue what a toy or stuff animal is. I just sniff them. BUT I sure know what treats are!!! And I get SPECIAL food- Mom cooks for me. The vet said soft food due to my teeth so they don't break off.

OH well being spoiled isn't bad is it??

I greet each day inside my cage
And wait for God to write my page.
